Website Bulletin no. 21 dated 13th. Dec., 2011
The following changes have been made in recent months to our website (www.dcu.org.uk):
1. Home Page:
As many members will have noticed, this now has a series of large 'banner' photos that display briefly in rotation, showing the choir 'at work and play'. They include an earlier performance in Repton with Emma Kirkby back in 2006 as well as our latest 'triumph' last month! There are also photos from various trips abroad and in Derbyshire, plus a couple taken in Derby Cathedral.
These will be changed periodically to keep the page 'fresh'.
There's an index of these photos describing when and where they were taken - go to the Picture Gallery and click on See Home page revolving photos index.
2. Picture Gallery:
Photos from our "Jazz Concert" have now been posted in both the rehearsal and Concert sections. We are indebted to our friends Gill & Peter Dishart for the excellent quality of these photos.
3. Who's Who:
The Ladies Dress committee has been added to this section. If you want to contact the committee, e-mail ladies_uniform@dcu.org.uk.
4. On this day...:
Have you noticed that on most days, the home page has some item of musical interest under this heading, usually the birth or death of a famous composer, or the premier of some well known work. This idea was 'borrowed' from the BBC website's home page which includes a wide variety of historical events.
5. Artists page:
Since the last website bulletin, this page has now been extended to include artists who have performed with the choir since 2005 to the present day, plus a few famous soloists from former years, for example: Isobel Baillie and Peter Pears (1944); Kathleen Ferrier (1947); Lesley Garrett (1986).
6. Did you know. . . ?
- As well as the Members e-mail register, we also have an Audience e-mail register with about 100 people on it. We usually send out a 'Press Release' a few weeks prior to concerts, and also ask for feedback after concerts.
We're keen to build up this list, so if you know of any friends or family who would appreciate receiving information about our concerts, please let me have their names and e-mail addresses.
If you have any comments on the above items or suggestions to make, please forward them to webmaster@dcu.org.uk
