Richard Dacey
Richard became Musical Director of Derby Choral Union in 2003 and quickly inspired the choir to sing of their best, both at home and on tour abroad.
He's a graduate of the Royal School of Music, a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music and Associate of the Royal College of Music - as well as holding a Music Teachers' Certificate.
In 1977 Richard began his teaching career at the Malvern Girls' College and Hereford Sixth Form College before becoming assistant master and chapel organist at Shrewsbury School in 1987. In between, he worked in Canada where he was Director of Music at St. Matthew's Church, Ottawa, well as being Conductor of the Canadian Centennial Choir. From 1989 to 1995, Richard was music coach with the National Youth Music Theatre in London.
Richard joined Repton School in 1994 as Director of Music. Since 1996, he has also held the post of chorus master of the Leicester Philharmonic Choir. He is also guest conductor of the Derbyshire County Youth Orchestra.
In September 2006, Richard was appointed Head of Performing Arts at Guthlaxton College, Leicester.
